A grandfather of seven, one of my pre-covid travel adventures was when I left my home and family in Australia and embarked on an unlikely and at times hilarious 365-day solo backpacking adventure around the world.
I set out to live every day as an unknown adventure. Its not that I was trying to escape from life or to find himself. Instead I wanted to be free to explore and escape the normal routines and expectations of life.
While some saw the trip as crazy, I embraced it as a way to challenge myself. To push myself out of my comfort zone. I left with no purpose, other than to take each day as it came and be open to opportunities. One opportunity I initiated benefited charities worldwide.
This story has been covered by the BBC and by numerous TV, radio, print and online media across Australia, USA, Europe and Asia. During my journey, I was inspired by the confidence of many young travellers I met along the way. I hope my story will inspire you to live your travel adventures.
